Vermilion has partnered with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), one of Canada's leading national conservation organizations. In 2016 and 2019, a group of Vermilion volunteers from our Canada Business Unit tackled projects like trail clearing and sign installation at the Coyote Lake Nature Sanctuary, which is a popular hiking destination near our operations in Drayton Valley, Alberta. This work helped to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors, and contributed to the safety of local wildlife.

In 2018, we launched our Global Environmental Stewardship Program, providing community investment funding to local conservation partners in all of our business units – including supporting bee population research in The Netherlands (shown here) and tree reforestation in Croatia.

Launched in 2015, the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Vermilion is already making a strong contribution to many of the SDGs through our business strategy that focuses on the importance of our people, the environment and our communities in our pursuit of long-term, sustainable and inclusive growth.

  • Paid close to $202 million in wages and benefits to our employees
  • distributed more than $427 million in dividends

  • paid close to $216 million in taxes and royalties
    in our operating jurisdictions
  • invested more than $2.4 million in community support
  • devoted more than $55 million to protecting our environment
